Officials
from more than 30 countries will take part in a one-day meeting of the
foreign ministers of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement
(NAM) in Tehran, a senior Iranian diplomat says.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs
Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that the 13 members states of the
NAM Palestine committee, namely Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal,
South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India,
Colombia and Cuba, are among the attendees of the meeting in the Iranian
capital on Monday.“About 20 other countries in Africa and Asia will also participate in the meeting,” he added.Some countries will attend the meeting at the level of foreign ministers and some others at the level of deputy foreign ministers, Araqchi said.
The Palestinian unity government will be represented by its foreign minister, Riyad al-Maliki, while Egypt will be partaking with its deputy foreign ministers, the official pointed out.
He further noted that reviewing developments in the besieged Gaza Strip and the Zionist regime's crimes in the Palestinian territory will be on the agenda of the gathering while a final statement will contain solutions.
Israeli warplanes and tanks have been pounding numerous sites inside the Gaza Strip and killing innocent residents of the impoverished Palestinian enclave since July 8. The air, sea and land strikes have so far killed at least 1,830 Palestinians and injured over 9,300 others.
