Analyst: Iran one of the few countries not submitting to US lunacy
Iran is one of the few countries in the world refusing to submit to the Unties States' "lunacy," a political analyst says.
International lawyer and political commentator Barry Grossman made the comments in an interview with Press TV on Tuesday.
"The US sees Iran as a threat because it's one of the very few countries left on this planet that refuses to submit to this lunacy and continues to have a very clear foreign policy which by its own terms is perfectly within what was always regarded as its sovereign right as an independent nation," he said.
He also touched upon the US animosity towards the Iranian defense forces such as Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) or the Quds forces,"which have primarily been responsible for taking the fight to and defeating al-Qaeda in the region; the very same al Qaeda that found an incredible amount of support, both in terms of training, political interference, finance, and armaments from the United States itself."
With the US stigmatizing countries like Russia, China and Iran through bringing up the so-called international rules, Grossman suggested tha the "suzerainty" is still on the West's agenda.
"That is , where a country is normally speaking independent when it comes to internal matters, but sees its foreign policy and military matters entirely under the control of colonial power, and the US, somehow, along with the UK and France primarily see themselves as having the exclusive right to dictate to the rest of the world what an acceptable foreign policy will be, and simply refuse to accept any dissent from that position."
Under President Joe Biden, the US has so far refused to remove illegal sanctions on Iran and return to the internationally backed nuclear deal with Tehran.
According to Grossman, the US foreign policies are "for the benefit of US corporate interests."
"They expect other nations to abide by and they simply will not accept that any other country, regionally, should exercise sovereign powers when it comes to matters like foreign affairs, self-defense, and the like."
