Report: 90% of Palestinian journalists subjected to work-related violations

In a matter of three weeks, Israel has killed two Palestinian journalists in Gaza and wounded more than ten while covering peaceful protests.

The Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) announced said on Wednesday that 90 per cent of the Palestinian journalists had been abused by Israeli occupation.
MADA issued the report, based on a survey, ahead of the anniversary of the World Press Freedom Day, which occurs on 3 May each year.
According to MADA, the survey was conducted and carried out among journalists and media workers in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip on Media freedoms in Palestine.
The survey found that 85 per cent of the journalists believed the Cyber Crimes Law does not enhance freedom of the press.
In addition, it found that 90 per cent of the journalists believe that they practice self-censorship out of fear of security agencies.
Meanwhile, 91 per cent of the Palestinian journalists said they had been subjugated to violations related to their work, mostly from the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank.
