Israeli forces detain 5 Palestinians, seize weapons in West Bank raids

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the occupied West Bank during pre dawn raids on Friday, according to Hebrew-language media.
Reports said that Israeli forces carried out raids in the Jenin district of the northern West Bank, in the al-Yamoun, Arraba, and Bir al-Basha villages, in addition to houses on the road connecting Qabatiya and the Misliya village in southwestern Jenin, and the Jenin refugee camp.
Israeli forces reportedly detained two Palestinians from the Jenin district. They were identified as Muhammad Fawwaz Zakarneh and former prisoner Haitham Sayyaj.
Meanwhile in Nablus, also in the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian youth identified as Wael Muhammad Obeidallah from the Awarta town.
In the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians identified as Rajab Raji and Hamzeh Ghaith.
Forces also reportedly seized two weapons during the raid in Hebron.
Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
According to UN documentation, between January 2 and 15th, Israeli forces carried out 176 search and arrest operations in the West Bank, compared to a bi weekly average of 79 search and detention raids in 2017.
