Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns attack in London

JUNE 4, 2017 4:20 P.M. (UPDATED: JUNE 4, 2017 4:21 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday condemned a vehicular and stabbing attack that took place in London on Saturday, and has so far left seven dead and dozens injured, according to several international media outlets.
The ministry released a statement on Sunday condemning the attack and reaffirming the Palestinian support of Britain “in confronting terrorism and the people standing behind it,” adding that the ministry was “confident that Britain is able to win against terrorism.”
The ministry went on to condemn “all types of terrorism,” and offered its condolences to the victims’ families and expressed hope for a quick recovery for all those injured.
The statement called for “uniting all international efforts to stop terrorism by increasing the level of coordination between countries and providing all possibilities to guarantee success of the coordination.”
The attack on Saturday was the second attack to have taken place in the United Kingdom in recent weeks, with a suicide bombing killing 23 people and injuring more than 100 in Manchester during an Ariana Grande concert on May 22.
Meanwhile, 20 people were also killed in the Afghani capital of Kabul on Saturday after three explosives went off during a funeral. The attack came just a day following a protest held in Kabul at the site of a massive bombing on Wednesday, which killed more than 90 people and injured hundreds.
Hundreds of protesters in Kabul demanded the resignation of the government for their inability to protect civilians from such attacks. Afghani police responded to the protesters, who were reportedly throwing stones at police, by firing tear gas and water cannons at the demonstrators and firing live ammunition into the air.
According to Al Jazeera, four people were killed and eight others were wounded during the clashes.
