Mel Gibson’s WW2 pacifist movie receives 10 minute standing ovation at world premiere

MEL GIBSON’S Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington and Vince Vaughn, received a 10 minute standing ovation at its world premiere.

Have amazed critics at press screenings, Gibson’s war drama has had the most phenomenal response.
After six minutes of clapping, the director and his cast finally went down into the audience to greet those attending in Venice.
The applause continued another four minutes for the story of the real-life conscientious objector.
Garfield stars as Desmond T Doss, a solider and Seventh Day Adventist, who saved 75 men at Okinawa without taking a gun into battle.

Gibson, , feels his film is about a man who “does something extraordinary and supernatural really, that inspired me.”
“A lot of attention needs to be paid to our warriors; they need some love and understanding.
“I hope this film imparts that message. If it does nothing but that, that’s great.”
Hacksaw Ridge is Gibson’s first film as director since Apocalypto in 2006.
The movie is expected to be a big contender in the upcoming awards season.
It will be released in the US on November 4, while international dates are yet to be confirmed.
