A gigantic asteroid with the power of more than three billion nukes is hurtling towards Earth.

But no one is certain how close it will actually come. In any cases, it is way too close for comfort.

China’s Purple Mountain Laboratory discovered the massive asteroid using Asia’s largest telescope, determining the meteor was passing our planet with a range of 18.8 times the distance between the Earth and the moon. Way too close for comfort!
The asteroid, named 2009ES, is one of over 1,600 asteroids known as “minor bodies” that are currently heading towards Earth, according to Chinese Academy of Science.

This asteroid, dubbed 2009ES, would produce a mass extinction if colliding with Earth

But scientists are keeping a close eye on 2009ES as just a minor change in its flight path could have catastrophic consequences for the human race, due to its sheer mass.
Experts say if the asteroid were to smash into Earth, it would create an extinction level event, meaning humans are toast.
