Mike Rivero, owner of WhatReallyHappened.com, replied with An Open Letter to Glenn Greenwald, where he states, in part,
"Glenn, I am a long admirer of your work, in particular your willingness to report stories unfavorable to government and your thoroughness in researching your stories. For that reason, I was rather taken aback by your reckless tweet "Trump's 'Arabs-cheered' lie extra-creepy b/c anti-Semites have long told same lie about Jews to blame 9/11 on Israel", which you then link to an article at my website "The Five Dancing Israelis Arrested On 9-11." Now, I agree that Trump's comments were inappropriate. I like Trump, but he displays a troubling naivety' regarding current politics. But I do take issue with your rather loose use of "anti-Semite."Rivero concludes his letter to Greenwald with a "P. S. "Rivero" is a Sephardic name and my first wife was Ashkenazi, so please cool it with the anti-Semite rhetoric."
As the headline on my article demonstrates, I do not use the word "Jew", and I make it a policy at my website to make it clear that criticisms are about the actions of individuals in governments, not about people as a whole. I am certain that you will agree with me that all of the world's Jewish people are not responsible for the crimes committed by Israel's government, just as all Americans are not responsible for the crimes committed by the US Government, and just as all Muslims are not responsible for the crimes committed by ISIS...
False flag attacks are a reality of history, although their existence is not taught in school, because false-flag attacks only work on populations unaware that governments engage in such deceptions to manipulate their populations.
...You have fallen into the well-worn habit of deflecting criticism of Israel's government by shouting "anti-Semite." But stop and think. Do we deflect criticism of Hitler by shouting "anti-German?" Do we deflect criticism of Stalin by shouting "anti-Russian?" Of course not. In those latter contexts, this tactic is very silly. But if you think like this, shouting "anti-Semite" by conditioned reflex, it is because Israel intentionally blurs the line between the actions of Israel government and the world's Jewish people, just for that purpose."
It's a great letter but one thing Mike neglected to emphasize is the fact that the cheering, Jewish dancing Israelis" was not in any way a "lie" or exaggeration, and it's thoroughly documented in the government's own reports, as well as being covered by the 'mainstream' corporate media at the time.
The dancing Israelis, who were later outed as admitted Mossad agents, were arrested by New Jersey police at gunpoint after a concerned resident saw them dancing, cheering and high-fiving each other on a rooftop while filming the towers come down. They were held in federal prison for 71 days, and later sent back to Israel where they appeared on TV, and admitted that their job was to "document the event." They then sued John Ashcroft, the bureau of prisons, and the U.S. government for mistreatment in the prison, but lost their case.
The federal judge threw their case out of court! This is all documented in official police, FBI and court records. Anyone who denies it is the liar. Will Greenwald claim that this is all an elaborate an 'anti-Semitic conspiracy theory' too?
When the case was first filed in 2004, the plaintiffs' lawyer Nitsana Darshan-Leitner said: "The infamous arrest of these young Israelis on 9/11 has been used by anti-Semites worldwide as 'proof' of Israel's involvement in the World Trade Center attack. Our clients are seeking compensation for the harm they suffered in the MDC by prison officials. In addition, the law suit will serve as an important public forum to debunk the lie that Israel or the Mossad was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It will show that there was no Jewish conspiracy as the Arab world continues to claim and put an end to this racist blood libel."
Wiki notes "The Algemeiner Journal is a New York-based newspaper, covering American and international Jewish and Israel-related news. CNBC called it "the fastest growing Jewish newspaper in the United States" and former Senator Joseph Lieberman described the paper as an "independent truth telling advocate for the Jewish people and Israel". The Algemeiner's Advisory Board is chaired by Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel.
They included the following quotes from Greenwald: (excerpts)
"Anyone who has argued that a desire to protect Israeli interests plays too large of a role in our foreign policy has been subjected to some of the most vicious and relentless smears..." "If you don't pledge your loyalty to our policies toward Israel and to Israel, what will happen to you is what just happened to Charles Freeman. You'll be demonized and have your career ended."
"The real goal [of the Israel lobby], as always, was to ensure that there is no debate over America's indescribably self-destructive, blind support for Israeli actions..."
"The point is that the power the [Israel lobby] exercises [is] harmful in the extreme. They use it to squelch debate, destroy the careers and reputations of those who deviate from their orthodoxies, and compel both political parties to maintain strict adherence to an agenda that is held by a minority of Americans; that is principally concerned with the interests of a foreign country; and that results in serious cost and harm to the United States..."
