Israeli settlers have assaulted and stabbed a Palestinian man in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).
Yousef Hantash, 38, was injured in the hand Saturday when the settlers attacked him while he was walking along a bypass road near Dora in al-Khalil, located about 30 kilometers (nearly 19 miles) south of al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The stabbing was not the only assault by Israelis on Palestinians.
A 20-year-old Palestinian was also wounded after Israeli troops fired rubber bullets at him in the al-Toor neighborhood south of al-Quds during the late hours of Saturday.
On the same day, Israeli forces arrested five Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including the cities of al-Khalil and Beit Lahm.
Last week, Israeli troops detained more than 20 Palestinians during separate overnight raids on a number of houses across the West Bank.
During recent months, Israeli forces have frequently raided Palestinians’ homes in the West Bank, arresting dozens of people, who are then transferred to Israeli detention centers where they are kept without any charges brought up against them.
Israeli detention centers

There have been numerous reports about the deteriorating health condition of several Palestinian prisoners held inside Israeli jails.
The Palestinian Authority Department of Prisoners Affairs said on January 5 that Palestinian prisoners kept inside Israeli detention facilities are suffering from serious health problems, yet they are denied proper medical treatment.
More than 7,000 Palestinians are reportedly incarcerated in 17 Israeli prisons and detention camps. Among Palestinian prisoners behind Israeli bars, there are 18 women, 250 children, 1,500 sick detainees, who are mostly in a critical condition, and 540 Palestinians are also held without any trial under the so-called administrative detention.
The detention is a sort of imprisonment without trial or charge that allows Israel to incarcerate Palestinians for up to six months. The detention order can be renewed for indefinite periods of time.
