Rustling Leaves

Rustling leaves from my lone guava tree
weave your tender magic inside me
My personal wind chime in the night
narcotic lullaby crisp and light

Let me linger in this vivid dream
under the moonlight’s shimmering beam
where entities dwelling in my mind
help me live my world behind

So with them I’m off to gather stars
terraform Saturn, Jupiter and Mars
in haste, back to earth I go
to hang out with Nancy and ol' Sluggo

Then in a blink my memories cast
a vision of a sordid past
of beatings I’d to tolerate
from brothers I both love and hate

Segue to reveries of sweet pain
of lasses I can never gain
except in chained dream requite
the affections of the heart they smite

Betwixt the sequence of events
of vixens, brothers and figments
are states of mind where I recall
slumbers where nothing is at all

Nothing 'bout pain or health remote
or love or hatred in me but wrought
delight, free of humanity’s
longings, wants and vanities

If this be like death then pined it is
let eternity pass in darkness bliss
