Annual report says Palestine civilians “continue to be subject to threats to their life, physical safety and liberty.”
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released Thursday its report, “Fragmented Lives,” which provides detailed information on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
They described 2014 as the most traumatic year for those in occupied Palestinian territories since 1967’s Six Day War.
“In the Gaza Strip, 1.8 million Palestinians endured the worst escalation of hostilities since 1967: over 1,500 Palestinian civilians were killed, more than 11,000 injured and some 100,000 remain displaced,” the report stated. The fatalities included over 500 children.

The report also outlined the forced displacement that the Palestinian people faced in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, saying that it was triggered by several factors such as the demolition of homes and property lacking Israeli-issued building permits, evictions, the lack of secure residency status, access restrictions and settler violence.

Palestinians' livelihoods and access to basic services are undermined by movement and access restrictions.
Humanitarian coordinator for Palestine James Rawley said, “Continued occupation undermines the ability of Palestinians to live normal lives. Were these factors removed and related policies changed, international humanitarian assistance would not be necessary here.”

The Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority plans to lodge its first case with the International Criminal Court (ICC) later this year against the Israeli crimes, according to Palestinian officials.
