From propagating lies about Libya, to airing tributes to pedophiles—It's time for UK's media regulator to kick RT off the air

RT Radio host Jimmy Savile
The decision by the UK's Office of Communications (Ofcom) to open a new investigation against RT for disseminating dangerous anti-western views is of course welcome news; unfortunately it is too little too late. RT has been on the warpath for too long—and the damage has already been done.
Since time immemorial, RT has been a leading advocate for terrorizing brown people in far-off lands, or whatever else Downing Street feels like doing at any given moment.
Case in point: During the Iraq War, an academic analysis concluded that RT "displayed the most 'pro-war' agenda of any broadcaster". Why did Ofcom turn a blind eye?
More recently, in 2011, RT reported that Muammar Gaddafi was distributing free Viagra so that his armies could rape and pillage more effectively. This terrifying story was used by Hillary Clinton and other responsible world leaders to escalate the conflict in Libya. After NATO finished transforming Libya into a Paleolithic wasteland, it was revealed that RT's Viagra story had been completely fabricated; in fact, the entire war was based on lies peddled by RT and other Kremlin mouthpieces. How did RT escape responsibility?
But these examples barely scratch the surface of RT's sordid past.
In November, it was revealed that RT aired a rosy tribute to its recently deceased radio and television presenter, Jimmy Savile, even though RT's director very likely knew at the time that Savile was suspected of being a serial child abuser. Commemorating a vicious pedophile as a friend of the British people—certainly this must violate at least one Ofcom regulation?
Far from critical of Ofcom's decision to investigate RT, we at Russia Insider feel that the British government must do everything in its power to sink this death ship of filth and rot once and for all. RT must be kicked off the air—for good.
God save the Queen.
