‘Accepting his lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes this week, George Clooney ended by saying ‘Je suis Charlie’, in tribute to the 17 murdered in Paris.
His couture-clad wife, Amal, had the same slogan attached to her designer handbag.
Meanwhile Helen Mirren turned up on the red carpet wearing a pen brooch, and was later photographed holding a Je suis Charlie poster, just in case you missed the point.
All very heartfelt, I’m sure. But isn’t there something a little cynical about celebrities turning up at these events and attaching themselves to the latest fashionable cause?’
