Potential Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made fun of Russian President Vladimir Putin by offering an impression of him.

During an event at the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce in Canada on Wednesday, Clinton compared elections in the US and Russia and accused Putin of securing his third term as president.

"There is a process, it's not like Putin," she said when asked about her run for president. "I mean you can imagine the conversation with Putin."

The former secretary of state performed a mock conversation she imagined Putin had with himself when he decided to be president.

"You know he was prime minister after he was president and then one day he says, 'Vladimir, do you think you'd like to be president again?'"

"'I think I would actually. Why don't we just go announce it, we'll tell Dmitry [Medvedev] he can be prime minister,'" Clinton said. "'Excellent, excellent idea.'"

Last year, Clinton criticized Putin’s behavior and said his personality is like those she would encounter on an elementary school playground.

The former first lady is expected to announce a run for president this spring. However, she did not address her political aspirations.
