Have you ever gone to a movie with a friend and it turns out their reaction to the film is wildly different than yours? How can that be? We saw the same movie, didn’t we?
Actually, you didn’t.
All we ever perceive are just our perceptions. Our perception is based upon our beliefs or belief systems. What we believe, and our degree of attachment to that belief, dictates or forms our reality. Subsequently, our reality is informed or misinformed by our perceptions.
Let’s look at how this is manifested…
Everything starts with possibilities. Possible possibilities. The possibility of possible possibilities. The possible possibility of possible possibilities. With limitless possibilities available, it’s the energy of our intent that helps formulate a thought within that endless sea of possibilities. (Mystics would argue the specific possibility you chose is actually seeking you but that’s another discussion). That thought and the attachment we decide to place upon it forms a belief (the precursor to a larger set of thoughts that support the original thought becomes a belief system). We then take action, mental or physical, that coincides with that belief/belief system. We then force our thoughts, and other people’s too, to fit within our belief system. We reject our own thoughts and possibilities that don’t coincide with our belief system (because of our attachment to our beliefs). If other people’s thoughts don’t fit within our belief system we label them wrong and reject them. Other people do the same thing with us. All of our perceptions are seen through the eyes of our belief systems. The sum of our belief systems is our reality.
I saw what I saw and I believe what I believe. You saw what you saw and you believe what you believe. I’m right and you’re wrong. That’s that.
No, not by a long shot…
The ability to perceive is a function of consciousness. Consciousness and how we use it as it pertains to our perception is a function of context. Let’s use water for example. Water, by nature, is free flowing but it will take the shape of whatever you pour it into. Pour water into a glass and it takes the shape of the glass. Pour it into your hands and it will take the shape of your hands. Consciousness is even more fine and free flowing than water. Whatever you pour your consciousness into, it will perceive reality through that perspective. Pour it into a specific Faith and you will perceive everything through the eyes of that religious doctrine. Pour it into a political establishment and you will perceive everything through that party’s ideology and so on and so on.
The key to the greater reality is to let your consciousness be free flowing. Why pour it into anything? Consciousness is to be explored not confined. There is an endless sea of possibilities that exists within existence itself! Perceive constructs for what they are ultimately…limiting and exclusionary. If it contains then it must exclude.
Joy does not lie within a belief. It does not exist outside of ourselves. Joy is a vibration that has, is and forever exists and resonates within our consciousness. It has always been there. Where could it ever go?
