Canadian PM Embarrassing Canadians

Canadian PM Releases Album in Hebrew In Support Of Israel

Ottawa| The Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, formally launched this morning an album consisting of a musical collection of traditional Jewish religious songs, conceived to show the unconditional support of the Canadian Government to the Israeli people. This new album is meant to raise funds for the Israeli army that is currently fighting in Gaza.

The album named “Alevheym yebrek at Yesheral” (“God bless Israel“), consists of 14 personalized remakes of traditional Hebrew and Yiddish songs, as well as three original works composed and written by the Prime Minister himself, including the controversial title “God’s Chosen People United Against Gaza”, that Mr. Harper dedicated to his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Several Jewish organizations in the country such as the Canadian Jewish Congress and B’nai Brith, welcomed the initiative of the Prime Minister, calling it a “brilliant idea from a great peacemaker”

As might be expected, the reactions of the Arab and Muslim communities, however, are completely different. The Canadian Arab Federation protested against a work dedicated to ”hatred and racism”, and the Association of Muslims and Arabs for Secularization (AMAS) condemns the work as “biased, violent and deceitful”. Both organizations invited their members and supporters to rally in the three biggest Canadian cities on next Friday to condemn Mr. Harper’s position and work.

“The Jewish people have suffered more than any other people since the dawn of humanity, that is why we must support them” admits the PM

Mr. Harper’s passion for hebrew music manifested itself for the first time during a trip to the Holy Land, earlier this year.
