Gaza Ceasefire at 0500 GMT – Talks to begin in Cairo
“Are the Zionists done mowing the lawn in Gaza?”

Israeli and Hamas officials have accepted an Egyptian ceasefire proposal with plans to meet in Cairo during the hopefully 72-hour break in the carnage.
Israel has already pulled troops back from Gaza but is continuing its anti-tunnel operations in Rafa. The ceasefire will take effect at 0500 GMT.
A senior Israeli official later told the BBC: “Israel will accept the draft of the Egyptian proposal for an unconditional ceasefire, without preconditions and for 72 hours.”
Sami Abu Zuhri, a spokesman for Hamas, told Reuters news agency: “Hamas told Egypt a short while ago of its acceptance of a 72-hour period of calm.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that the problems with the past ceasefires might have been caused by the non-Hamas groups like Islamic Jihad having their leadership outside of Gaza and poor communications to their resistance units to cease retaliation rocket fire. The group said that its commander in the northern part of the strip, Daniel Mansour, died when the Israeli strike hit his home just before dawn Monday.
What makes the beginning of this ceasefire different is the combination of the language used by the parties and the agreement to begin actual negotiations. Israeli media outlets quoted an unnamed official. Forgive me for noticing that the language below did not include “no more air attacks”.
“We agree to begin implementing the Egyptian initiative. If the ceasefire is upheld, there will be no need for any presence of (Israeli) forces in the Gaza Strip,” the unnamed Israeli official said. Netanyahu mentioned the goal of bringing peace and security back to the Israeli people. He could have done that by not using the deaths of the three settler teens as a pretext “to mow the lawn in Gaza again”, as the hard-core Zionists like to call these Gazan live fire turkey shoots.Although Uri Avnery has claimed the Iron Dome worked wonderfully in protecting Tel Aviv, most all independent defense reports claim just the opposite.
Israel now makes vague claims that, of the 3200 rockets fired in retaliation to the massive IDF bombing campaign, “many” have been shot down. Our sources in Israel tell us that their TV media is bare of any footage showing wreckage of shot-down rockets.
Bibi is focusing strongly now on the anti-tunnel clearing campaign being almost completed, signaling that was going higher up the list as a threat justification for what is nearing 10,000 Gazan casualties.
This is bogus, as the tunnels were only used in defensive operations after the Israelis attacked. If Gaza were Jews, Hollywood would already be writing movie scripts of their heroic defense.
An end will eventually come to the current fighting, but then another fight will begin, so see if those responsible for the crimes against humanity that we all have been watching now for weeks go unpunished. The NAM countries led by Iran are evaluating international legal action with formal charges against Israel, something long overdue.
But when the dust settles, the American taxpayer will have footed the whole bill, with our Congress tripping over themselves to shovel the money out the door to Israel in an election year. The chances of Israel ever being punished seriously for its crimes will have to wait until its American supporters are punished first.
Outraged citizens can begin that work now by collecting the phone numbers of all the political supporters of the Zionists here and dedicating their lives to dropping phone bombs on America’s biggest national security threat… our dear friend Israel, who has done more damage to America than all our adversaries combined.
