Ireland is pro-Palestinian, says Israeli media

Ireland's 'pro-Palestinian stance' has made it into the Israeli headlines after a minute's silence was held in the Dail for the people of Gaza.

"Ireland is long-known for its pro-Palestinian stance. But with the outbreak of Operation Protective Edge two weeks ago some Irish politicians are becoming increasingly strident in their anti-Israel rhetoric and actions," reported The Times of Israel.

According to the publication: "The Times of Israel has no partisan political affiliation."

It concentrated on the minute's silence but particularly the fact that it was led by Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams. It claimed that critics described his call for solidarity a "pro-Palestinian publicity stunt". The article also said that, "strident anti-Israel sentiment is being expressed everywhere from the Dail to Dublin City Council".

Founder of the group Irish4Israel, Barry Williams, was also quoted as saying: "The Palestinian flag in the parliament was a disgrace.

"No other flag other than the Irish flag should be flown in the Irish parliament."
