British Army intelligence new recruits only read to the same standard of an eight-year-old

Army spy regiments suffer as hundreds of new recruits have the reading age of eight year olds

  • Third of those joining up can only read as well as a child of 11
  • Around 39 per cent struggle to do maths aimed at primary school pupils
  • Education standards being blamed for short-staffing in some units
