Since 2000 alone, Israel killed over 10,000 Palestinians, including over 2,000 children. The Occupied Territories are a virtual free-fire zone, Palestinians murdered with impunity.
Fatimah Hjeiji, aged-16, is one of Israel’s many victims, threatening no one, lethally shot in cold blood.
Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri lied, claiming she was shot while attempting a stabbing attack. Eyewitnesses explained otherwise.
She threatened no one. She was meters away from the closest police officer when riddled with gunfire even after lying motionless on the ground, a ruthless cold-blooded killing, similar incidents happening with disturbing regularity.
According to Jerusalem District Police Commander Major General Yoram Halevy, the killing was lawful, saying:
“Police and Border Police forces are deployed in all the hotspots in the city. We will continue to protect the residents. Anyone attempting to harm civilians and police officers will meet an immediate, determined, response” - a distorted perversion of truth.
Palestinians are fair game for any reason, security forces allowed to kill them in cold blood by claiming they posed a threat even when clearly untrue.
Halevy turned truth on its head. Hjeiji was meters from the offending police, separated by a metal barrier, posing no threat, yet lethally shot anyway.
Senior Israeli officials encourage a shoot-to-kill policy, letting security forces get away with murder. Incidents like Hjeiji’s killing happen often, accountability almost never forthcoming.
According to Defense for Children International - Palestine, she’s the seventh Palestinian child Israeli forces killed this year.
Last year, 35 were killed by soldiers, police and Israeli civilians. Virtually always it’s claimed they attacked, attempted an attack, or otherwise posed a threat - virtually always a bald-faced lie, defenseless Palestinians killed in cold blood because official policy permits it.
Thousands of Palestinian corpses attest to Israel’s brutality, a vicious rogue state, contemptuous of rule of law principles, a threat to anyone challenging its ruthlessness.
