Baghdad Denies Entry of Syria-based US Troops into Iraq

Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman, Tahsin al-Khafaji denied on Thursday the entry of Syria-stationed US troops into Iraq.
In an interview with Sputnik, Khafaji stressed that moving US troops from Syria into Iraq need full coordination with Baghdad, stressing that such step has not taken place.
The spokesman noted that coordination between the US-led coalition and Iraq’s joint operations command is existent.
Al-Khafaji meanwhile, stressed that Iraqi army along with volunteer forces, known as Hashd Shaabi, are fully prepared along the border with Syria in a bid to deal with any development.
“Coordination is on high level and situation is under control… We have sent many letters via the joint operations command and via the defense ministry that we have the ability to defend our country, border and people,” al-Khafaji told Sputnik.
